Bug tracking software

Here’s something that software developers might find interesting. FlySwatter from Concept Cache is a software that makes bug submission and tracking easy and organized. A few of the features it has is the ability to manage multiple projects, so if you’re developing more than one software, it’s easy to manage bug tracking through just one system. It also has mobile-compatible access, for people who want to check the status of bug reports and resolutions through on the fly. Those who want to submit bugs have the option to attach files to their reports, so if they want to include a screenshot of the bug then they can do so. Based on the screenshots the admin side of the software looks manageable enough. The interface of the bug tracker also looks quite organized and viewer-friendly. The price is quite high, though, so it’s more applicable for people with large businesses. You can opt to use the software on a per hour or day basis, though, if you’re only thinking about using it for the beta launch of a software, or for a limited period of time. If you’ll need it for longer than a few days, you’ll have to purchase a permanent license for it. If you want to use it for personal use only (no redistribution, no other users) to organize the bugs you track on a specific project, you can install it free. Click the link I provided above if you’re interested with the table of fees regarding licensing the software.

Change in schedule

My supervisor sent me an SMS today informing me that the management approved my request to be given a better schedule (7am-4pm) even at the cost of being moved back to my old position. They’ve been very understanding of my situation and even if I’ll miss my old position of GM (Game Master), I have other things to consider and they are more important to me than my job. So, starting Thursday, I’m going back to the morning shift. Bitter-sweet. Sigh.

Hi-yah!

I was just watching some videos of martial arts a few minutes ago. I remember how I would always bug my mom when I was a kid, I wanted to take judo or aikido classes, but she was afraid it would be too violent for me. She wanted me to take dance lessons. I was all and what am I supposed to do when somebody threatens my life? Dance? Needless to day, that’s one frustration for me. If the Lord will bless us with children someday, and if our children want to take martial arts classes, I’ll let them. Not all girls were destined to be dainty and sweet, you know.

Happy mothers’ day to all moms out there!

I’m spending the day with my family, but I wanted to take the time to greet all the moms out there. Even if my mom and I don’t always agree, she’s really a big influence in my life. As in huge. Her unflagging determination and faith is a source of encouragement to me, especially now. Enjoy your day, everyone!

Have you tried SocialSpark?

I recently signed up with SocialSpark, it’s a cross between Friendster and PPP. It’s interesting because there’s a marketplace (where you can look for paid posts) and there’s also a place where you can exchange links with other bloggers to help your page rank. You can create your own profile, visit others’ profiles, and leave (and accept) comments. There’s a place to view a blogger’s recent posts too. What I also find interesting is that the opportunities I find in SocialSpark’s marketplace has the “nofollow” tag in the keywords, so I am guessing this would be safer for bloggers to use. In post disclosure is also required for all posts, it’s part of their policy about transparency.

The first thing I noticed about SocialSpark is that the interface is really quite different from what I’m used to in PPP. You also have the option to line up and reserve an unavailable opportunity and you’ll be notified via email when the opportunity becomes open for you. This really saves a lot of time, since you can’t always watch for a particular opportunity to open for you. The only thing I can’t figure out yet is why there’s no specific place to look for opportunities active for me. Either there isn’t one or I’m looking in the wrong place. In any case, it’s really an interesting site to visit for those who want to earn a little income from blogging. Check it out, and when you have time, check out my profile too.

Shocking revelation!

Please, call me Abner!I was looking at some cat-related articles on the internet recently and found a very disturbing piece of information. Based on some photos and descriptions, I have come to the conclusion that Abby is a male cat. Therefore a change of name is in order. Abby is now going to be called Abner, and will probably need some cat therapy because of my insistent cuddling and repeatedly saying “good girl!” when he’s behaving well. Which is all the time. I’m so sorry, Abner! Apparently, female cats have their sex organ’s opening very close to their anus while a male cat is farther from it. Also, that bushy part that Abner has between his legs, they’re actually testicles. I just thought they were, well, bushy! Again, my apologies to my wonderful cat.

Identity – You

Oh the wonders of technology

Recently, my husband and I have been talking to his family in the US through skype and yahoo. I enjoy looking at them and seeing them while we talk, even seeing where they live. It’s really different than just calling.

Decisions… decisions…

My mom has been persuading me to leave my current job because of my schedule. Given the situation we are currently in, I’m beginning to give it more thought. Tomorrow is mother’s day and I’m going to the church directly from the office, and I know that even if I act all perky and happy, it worries her that I’ve been awake since the night before. I’m doing my best not to give my mom any cause for worry, but as long as I stay in this kind of job with this kind of schedule, I know it’s going to put strain on her. Decisions, decisions. I hope I am making the right one this time.

Dockers commercial ad contest

For those of you who are into audio-video editing and would like to add something cool in your resume, Dockers is sponsoring a contest for the best 30-second tv ad about the “Dockers style”. The Dockers contest offers no monetary prize but the winning video will be aired in the Jay Leno show and also featured in the link above (which leads to nbc.com). For those who are interested, read the contest rules and the terms and conditions.

240x180

I read the terms and some things that I remember are that you can only join if you are in the US and above 18 years old, and you should be available to them if they call you to discuss your commercial, you can use the logo and music available in the site. You can’t use any other music aside from what was provided there.

Even if you won’t win any cash prize for the contest, I think that the chance to work with Dockers as they prepare your commercial for airing is already very good exposure if you want to do this sort of thing professionally. Of course, it also won’t hurt that you’ll get to know people in the industry. I think it’s a great opportunity to show what you can do. Visit the Dockers home page http://www.dockersstore.com/home/index.jsp for more information.

This hurts me more than it hurts you. Not.

Just took a bath

Unlike my other pet kitty cats, Abby lets me give her a bath once in a while. At first I was afraid to give her one because I’ve never tried it before, but she bravely endured it the first time, so we made it a weekly thing for her. Other cat owners actually give their cats a real bath, I prefer to give her a nice rub-down. What I do is I wet my hands with water and rub her down, rinsing my hands repeatedly, until I’ve taken out all the loose dirt and fur. I also make sure to clean her eyes and ears very gently. I sort of talk to her while I subject her to the rub down, making sure that she doesn’t develop an aversion for it. I guess for all first time cat owners out there, you can try my rub down technique to clean your cat. I’m glad Abby took it well, no screaming or scratching or dirty looks afterwards. Such a sweetheart.
