K.K.K. - The comforts of Pinoy food
If you want to eat in a Pinoy restaurant that will change the way you think about commercial Pinoy food, I suggest you drop by K.K.K. at Robinson’s Place, Ermita. It’s at the 2nd floor of their Midtown section. I assure you, you’ll never feel the same way again about how other restaurants cook kare-kare. Actually, everything we’ve ordered from that restaurant has been superb so far. The portions are good for two to three people, the prices are a tad high compared to other restaurants selling the same type of food, but once you taste K.K.K.’s food, you’ll understand that their prices are fair. The ambiance is okay. I like the music they play (mostly instrumentals), and the tables and utensils are clean and fairly decent-looking. When you walk into the restaurant you get the feeling that it’s been established by people who care about the details and who have put a lot of thought and planning into the concept; from the fixtures to the music, and especially the authenticity of their style of cooking.
While thinking about what to order, they usually give you a small bowl of chichacorn. This chichacorn is the kind you usually buy from Ilocos. Not makunat or old stock. It still has that fresh garlicky taste and still crunchy.
Unfortunately they’re out of Bagnet earlier today when I took these photos. Their bagnet is excellent. Seasoned and cooked just right. We just had our favorite (and their best seller) kare-kare instead, along with green mangoes and pancit lucban. Read about the complete review here – KKK Food Revolution!
